San Diego: What’s Not To Love?

25 Feb

Arrived in San Diego today (a welcoming, sunny San Diego in comparison to the cold and drizzly Central Coast left behind) for a quick work trip. It is easy to see why so many love and adore this city. While browsing through the many San Diego community lifestyle publications (the type you find patiently waiting for you within your hotel room), I came across a great little article titled “30 Things We Love About San Diego” – while I cannot list all 30 things loved by San Diegans alike, I can at least list a few that caught my eye.

The pear/gorgonzola/caramelized onion pizza at Cucina Urbana. Sounds delicious!

Chatting up the pedi-cab drivers in the Gaslamp, who always have interesting stories. I am a firm believer that pedi-cab drivers in any major city have the best stories!

Pineapple/champagne popsicles and more surprising sparkling recipes in The Bubbly Bar, from local author Maria C. Hunt. Give me bubbles and I am in!

The awesome wine selection at the brand-new Wine Steals in Cardiff – almost as great as the ocean views.

Which segues into why this trip to San Diego was even made! The Paso Robles Wine Country Grand Tasting Tour has come to San Diego with over 40 different wineries and 150 wines from Paso Robles, California. Not often will you find the top winemakers from an up and coming wine region all in one room presenting their wines (so convenient)!

Try: Wines from the likes of L’Aventure, Kiamie Wine Cellars, Niner Wine Estates, Tablas Creek and Halter Ranch Vineyard (just to name a few)!

Attend: Paso Robles Wine Country Grand Tasting on Thursday, February 25, 2010 from 6PM to 8PM – $55 pp/$65 pp at the door.

Wine Steals – East Village (within Petco Park)
793 J Street, San Diego

Why: Because you don’t have time to make the 6 hour trip to Paso Robles Wine Country at the moment!
